Conor McGregor, a former UFC double champion, will square off against Michael Chandler. McGregor is now busy filming for his own movie, and as a result, he has returned to The Ultimate Fighter for the 31st season as a coach. McGregor hasn't competed since losing to Dustin Poirier in a trilogy fight in July 2021.

Meanwhile, Chandler recently talked about the upcoming fight and said that the rumours about the fight getting cancelled are all fake. He believes that McGregor will definitely show up for the fight as he loves and respects the sport a lot. Chandler guaranteed that the fight will happen by the end of his year.

"I think Conor will be in the USADA testing pool very soon. I do think this fight happens before the end of the year. And you've also got to remember too -- Conor is very romantic and very loyal to this game. He's very romantic about it, and he's very loyal to the game and the purity of the game.

"For him to not come back and fight me after we've already talked about it, Dana has talked about it, the media has talked about it, everybody has talked about it. The fight is going to happen, and I'm just being patient... I can almost guarantee we fight by the end of this year; November, December of this year," Chandler was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.

The fight is happening: Michael Chandler

Many fans are concerned about McGregor's highly awaited prospective return against Chandler, which the UFC had promised would happen before the end of this year, due to the short timeframe. However, Chandler's constant optimism has been unaffected by the rumours.

"The fight is happening. They don't even have certain big pay-per-views necessarily announced yet. So, if you expect our fight maybe in November-December or whatever it may be to be announced already, I think it's a tough ask right now. We're still sitting in June. So ultimately, we're fighting. Just got to know when it's gonna be," he added.
