Team India is currently playing in the ODI World Cup 2023, they have been performing really well in the tournament so far. The Men in Blue are the only side with an unbeaten streak in the current edition of the tournament so far. They have won 8 out of the 8 games in the mega event so far. Rohit Sharma's side has been the most formidable side in the event so far and became the first team to qualify for the knockouts.

The Men in Blue have a busy schedule after the World Cup they play Australia in a five-match T20I series. They are yet to announce their squad for the bilateral series. Most of the players are busy in the marquee event and for that, they can be given rest in the series.

Rohit Sharma might be rested as well. Hardik Pandya who has led India in his absence will also as he has not recovered from the injury he sustained in the tournament against Bangladesh. He has led India in the T20I series against West Indies as well. In the article, we will look at the three players who can lead India in the T20I series.

Here are three players who can lead India in the T20I series against Australia

3. Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer has been in good form in the ODI World Cup 2023. He has cemented his place in the No.4 spot for India and has scored 293 runs in the 8 matches he played. The batter has shown his class and temperament after returning from the injury though several critics have questioned his short ball approach as well.

The Mumbai-born batter has experience of captaincy in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Delhi Capitals (DC) and now he is the skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), as he can possibly be the skipper in the T20I series against the Aussies if the senior players are rested.

2. Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav has been the No.1 T20I batter and he has not got much game time in the ongoing tournament. But after Pandya's injury, he has been a regular in the squad and has shown why he has been the best batter in white-ball cricket. The Mumbai batter is a T20 specialist and has some captaincy experience in the domestic circuit.

He would love to captain the Men in Blue side and gain some experience as well. With the senior players likely to be given rest he can be a good choice to be given the leadership as well.

1. KL Rahul

KL Rahul has been in sensational form since his return from his injury. He has given solidarity in the middle order for team India and from behind the stumps as well. The Karnataka-born batter has shown great intent while playing in the middle overs. Rahul led India on several occasions.

The most recent one was in the ODI series where he led India for the first two matches and played some match-winning knocks as well. With the experience he has in captaincy, he might be the first choice who can lead India in the T20I series as well.
