Rohit Sharma isn’t leaving Mumbai Indians after the trading window ended on 22nd February. The 36-year-old will play for the men in blue and gold during the IPL 2024 season.

It was revealed on Thursday that Mumbai Indians will begin their season against Gujarat Titans. It has been a whirlwind few months for the five time IPL winners due to off-the field controversies.

Hardik Pandya returned to Mumbai Indians late last year in one of the biggest IPL trades. The 30-year-old was given the captaincy of the side as Rohit Sharma was removed from the top job. This didn’t sit down well with the MI fans as they called out the team on social media.

Mumbai Indians set for stern test in IPL 2024 opener –

Hardik Pandya will lead Mumbai Indians during the IPL 2024 season. Rohit Sharma will play as a batter with their first encounter set for the 24th of March. Gujarat Titans will welcome the five-time IPL winners to Ahmedabad to kick off their season.

Ahead of the new season, there is massive anticipation as Hardik Pandya will be heading back to his home turf. Former India opener Aakash Chopra said “I want Hardik Pandya to get booed in Ahmedabad. I'll tell you why. First IPL season, Mumbai vs Kolkata. We were playing at the Wankhede Stadium"

During his chat with Jio Cinema, the former India batter also said "Ajit Agarkar was in our team and we had to take him off the boundary because he was Mumbai's boy, playing against Mumbai, in Mumbai and getting booed by the Wankhede crowd. So we put him back inside the circle because it was not nice” The comments were made in Jio Cinema during the announcement of IPL schedule on Thursday.

The 46-year-old also said “Now Hardik Pandya goes to Mumbai after winning the championship once, leading the team to the final the next time. And not just that but choosing to leave the franchise. If there isn't any heartburn in the public of Ahmedabad, if they don't feel hurt, where is the fun? I am expecting. No, I am hoping – don't tell anyone – that Hardik goes for the toss and people go 'Boo'. That's where the league matures”
