In a big blow for Team India amidst their unassailable winning run in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the next match against New Zealand. Notably, the men in blue will take on the Blackcaps on Sunday, October 22 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.

Hardik sustained an injury in the match against Bangladesh when twisted his ankle while trying to stop a shot played on his own bowling by star Bangladesh batter Litton Das. He lost his balance and happened to drag his right boot while landing on the pitch during his fall. The physio immediately rushed to the ground to see Hardik; whereas skipper Rohit Sharma and former skipper Virat Kohli were also there around him to see him.

“He will be heading to Bengaluru where he has been asked to report to the NCA. The medical team assessed his ankle scan report and it looks like he will be fine by taking an injection. The BCCI consulted a specialist doctor in England and they too were of a similar opinion. He will be missing the next game,” said an Indian Cricket Board official.
