Healy was trying to stop the pitch invader as he interrupted the match. Healy who was keeping in the match put all her efforts into stopping him. This incident happened on the last ball of the Mumbai Indian Women’s innings as Sajeevan Sajana was dismissed by Anjali Sarvani. The play stopped for a while after this incident.
The tournament didn’t start well for UP Warriorz as they lost two back-to-back games against Royal Challengers Bangalore Women’s and Delhi Capitals Women’s. Mumbai Indians’s Women posted a total of 161 runs to chase for UP Warriorz. In reply to the total, Kian Navgire scored a half-century. For the first wicket stand Kiran Navgire and Alyssa Healy took a strong partnership of 94 runs. But Alyssa Healy was out on 33 runs.
UP Warriorz won the 1st match in WPL 2024
Issy Wong picked the wickets of Tahila McGrath and Alyssa Healy in the 11th over of the match. However, Deepti Sharma and Grace Harris didn’t put pressure on the team. Grace Harris scored 38 runs from 17 balls. UP Warriorz Women’s managed to up out victory by 21 balls left in the match against Mumbai Indians Women’s.This is their first win in the WPL so far. They are now placed 4th in the points table. Their next match is against Beth Mooney’s Gujarat Giants on 1st March Friday. Gujarat Giants are last in the points table and will be looking to win the match against UP Warriorz.
