AUS vs WI: Cameron Green plays second Test against West Indies despite having tested positive for COVID-19

Australia comfortably won the match, while West Indies will be eager to elevate their performance and provide a strong challenge to the Australians on their home turf.

The second Test between Australia and West Indies lock horns at Brisbane Cricket Ground in Brisbane on January 25. Australia appears to be in fine form in recent matches in this format, and they have continued that trend in this series too. They comfortably won the match, while West Indies will be eager to elevate their performance and provide a strong challenge to the Australians on their home turf.

However, there was a surprising news that floated out of the Australian camp which got all the fans stunned was related to the star all-rounder, Cameron Green. After being reported positive ahead of the Test, there was news that he might miss the second. But surprisingly Green was seen playing in the second Test against West Indies.

It is probably the first time when a cricketer is playing cricket despite being tested positive. In addition, at the time of the National Anthem, the premier all-rounder was seen maintaining social distance from his teammates. In addition to it, it was also instructed that throughout the match the 24-year-old all-rounder would keep their distance from all the teammates as well as the West Indies team.

 

Cameron Green tested Positive For COVID-19 ahead of 2nd Test

Earlier before the start of the Test match, Green tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the final Test match of the series. Australia faced its first COVID-19 case when batter Travis Head tested positive on Monday. However, Head later tested negative after travelling to Brisbane independently ahead of the second Test at The Gabba.

In addition to Travis Head and Cameron Green, Australia's head coach, Andrew McDonald also returned negative COVID-19 test results. Although Head resumed training with the squad, both Green and McDonald were kept in isolation and later on rejoined the team once their test results confirmed negativity. However, all of them will be under observation throughout the Test and will have to take needed precautions.
