Pakistan is currently in Australia for their three-match Test series. The Men in Green had a dismal performance in the ODI World Cup 2023 and would love to forget that and show some good fight against the Aussies. Babar Azam stepped down from the captaincy after the poor show in the mega event. The batter has resigned from all formats of the game. Shan Masood has been appointed as the new captain of red-ball. The 30-year-old batter is currently focussing on his batting technique and has no pressure of captaincy as well.

During the practice game against Prime Minister's XI, the former skipper did something interesting that left the world of social media stunned. Shan hit the ball down the ground with a ball from Beau Webster. As the ball passed the non-striker, Babar, he attempted to retrieve it with his hands, but the shot was too far away.

The PCB also appointed a new chief selector, Wahab Riaz, as well as a few experts. Former all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez was appointed as Pakistan cricket's new team director. Babar was replaced as Pakistan's T20I captain by Shaheen Shah Afridi. They are yet to announce their ODI captain.

Babar Azam keeping himself in the game: Cricket Australia

Cricket Australia made fun of the former Pakistan skipper, saying, "Babar Azam keeping himself in the game at the non-striker's end...." Abdullah Shafique and captain Shan Masood put on a 58-run stand for the second wicket. The spotlight, however, was on the captain's partnership with former captain Babar Azam, who stepped in at No. 4. For the third wicket partnership, the two added 92 runs.

During a practice session ahead of the match, Saud Shakeel and Sarfaraz Ahmed had a heated exchange of words. Shakeel was heard as saying in the video, "For how long will I continue to be of use to you?" In reply, Sarfaraz said, "You won't be of any use to me. To begin with, I never instructed you to do anything. I never requested you to make a swap. I swapped with the person I intended to." Shakeel replied saying, "You still made the swap, so I was beneficial to you."
