Chennai Super Kings (CSK) picked some brilliant players at a cheaper price with the likes of Rachin Ravindra, Shardul Thakur and Mustafizur Rahman. They bought some big buys as well, with Daryl Mitchell for 14.5 crores INR and young uncapped batter Sameer Rizvi for 8.40 INR. The five-time champions are looking formidable on paper and will try to win the trophy for the sixth time.

Previously he talked about trading the player, "We don’t trade players as a principle and we also don’t have players to trade with Mumbai Indians. We have not approached them and we don’t intend to either." As there were speculations of Rohit Sharma joining the CSK side after the batter was removed from the captaincy role of Mumbai Indians (MI).
