David Warner's unbelievable six

David Warner is playing his last Test series of his international career. The Southpaw will be retiring in January in his home ground Sydney, where Cricket Australia is planning for a ‘hero’s send-off’. The first Test is already underway in Perth with Warner and Usman Khawaja stitching a 126-run partnership with the latter being the first one to dismiss. During the 22nd over of the game, the former hit a six to Shaheen Shah Afridi, he scooped the delivery from outside the off-stump towards fine leg for a big six.

Warner’s form in the longest format of the game has been up and down and that is the reason he is planning to hang up his boots in the red-ball format. The Southpaw was in sensational form in the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023. He has carried a limited-overs mindset into the Test and he is playing on 88 runs and eyeing another century.

Pakistan has two debutants in their squad all-rounder Aamir Jamal and right-arm pacer Khurram Shahzad. They are looking a bit dull in the bowling department as they leak runs quite easily. They have yet to win a test match in Australia since 1995. The hosts are currently 158/1.

David Warner and Mitchell Johnson feud

Previously Warner and former teammate Mitchell Johnson were criticised as he believed that the 37-year-old should not get a farewell as he was involved in the famous ‘Sandpaper Gate’ incident. Johnson said in a column in West Australian "It’s been five years and David Warner has still never really owned the ball-tampering scandal. Now the way he is going out is underpinned by more of the same arrogance and disrespect to our country. As we prepare for David Warner’s farewell series, can somebody please tell me why?"

The former replied on the feud, “It would not be a summer of cricket without a headline. It is what it is. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. But moving forward, we are looking to a nice Test over in the west.”
