David Warner scores 26th century

Australia vs Pakistan 1st Test is currently underway at Perth. Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. David Warner is playing his last Test series and will hang up his boots. He will be playing his last Test in his home ground Sydney in January. The left-handed opener has been in great form in the ODI World Cup 2023, but his form in the longest format of the game has been quite hot and cold in the recent few years.

Warner scored his 26th Test century in the 1st Test and the 37-year-old has replied to his critics who believed that the batter's form in the longest format of the game has been poor and he should not be there in the squad anymore. He is still unbeaten on 111 runs off 149 balls and looking in fine form. He is playing the 110th Test, and responded in typical fashion, smashing 14 fours and one giant six to reach his ton. It was his first century since his double hundred against South Africa at the Melbourne Cricket Ground a year ago.

The batter has been showing his class in the white-ball cricket and scored the maximum number of runs in the World Cup 2023 for his side smashing two centuries and two half-centuries and scoring 528 runs in 11 matches. He tied with Sachin Tendulkar's century record as well. The Aussies are currently 210/2 at tea with Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne back in the pavilion. The former and Warner stitched a partnership of 117 runs for the first wicket and Khawaja was dismissed for 41 runs by Shaheen Shah Afridi.

David Warner and Mitchell Johnson feud

Warner was involved in a feud with his former teammate Mitchell Johnson, who questioned the integrity of the batter and asked Cricket Australia why they were giving a 'hero's send-off' to the veteran batter as he was involved in the famous 'Sandpaper Gate' incident and he does not deserve any kind of farewell.

The veteran later replied to the pacer's question stating, "It would not be a summer of cricket without a headline. It is what it is. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. But moving forward, we are looking to a nice Test over in the west."
