England beat West Indies

England beat West Indies in the third T20I to reduce the margin 2-1 in the five-match series. Jos Buttler's side won the toss and elected to bowl first. The defending T20 champions started well after dismissing the Windies opener inside the powerplay. After the two quick wickets Nicholas Pooran and Shai Hope stitched a decent partnership of 54 runs for the third wicket the latter was dismissed by Adil Rashid.

Pooran on the other hand scored a half-century and made sure the runs kept flowing from one end. Some small contributions from Rovman Powell and Sherfane Rutherford helped the hosts score past 200 runs. After being 8/2 no fans would have thought they would score 222 runs in their 20 overs. The left-handed wicket-keeper batter brought his half-century in just 37 balls, smashing three sixes and three fours in the time.

The 28-year-old batter finished the innings on 82 runs off 45 balls, smashing six sixes and an equal number of fours as well. Rashid and Reece Topley were the pick of the bowlers for the visitors.

Phil Salt shines in the big run chase

In reply, Phil Salt and skipper Buttler started brilliantly, the two batters smashed the Windies bowlers all around the park stitching a 115-run partnership for the first wicket. The skipper was the first one to be dismissed after he scored a good 51 runs off 34 balls. Liam Livingstone gave valuable support to Salt and they keep the run rate going on. Livingstone scored a quickfire 30 off 18 balls. Salt brought up his maiden T20I century and alongside him, Harry Brook finished the game off in style scoring a quick-fire 31 off 7 balls and smashing Andre Russell 24 runs in the last over to seal the game for the English Lions. Salt was unbeaten on 109 runs off 56 deliveries.

Salt was named the man of the match and said, "There’s no sports team in the world that is happy with losing games. It’s tough out here, we’ve been under the gun a little bit, but with the series in the balance to come out and play the way we did, I am over the moon."
