'Aise kaise ho sakta hain'- Fans react as only two Indian players gets selected in Test team of the Year

The experts panel chose their playing eleven based on player performances during the calendar year, including a captain and a wicketkeeper. Australia opener Usman Khawaja has been named in the side.

The Cricket Governing Body after announcing the ODI Team of the Year the Council have announced the Test Team of the Year as well. Five Australian players have been named to the side. Only two India players have got into the team with both of them being the all-rounder. Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin have made it into the side with neither the batter nor the pacer the chance in the side. The Voting Committee specialist panel of media representatives selected teams. 

The experts panel chose their playing eleven based on player performances during the calendar year, including a captain and a wicketkeeper. Australia opener Usman Khawaja has been named in the side as he was the only batter in 2023 to score more than 1000 runs in Tests, scoring 1210 runs in 13 matches at an average of 52.60, which included six centuries and six fifties. Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne secures a spot in the team and is the only player from the nation. 

The No.1 Test batter Kane Williamson has been in the side with four centuries and 695 runs. Joe Root secures a position along with Travis Head who after being named in the ODI team has been featured in the longest format for his sensational display in the red-ball format. The batter scored a century in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC). 

Big names missing 

Alex Carey also made it to the side with 54 dismissals (44 catches and 10 stumpings) in 12 matches. He has been probably the best keeper in the longest format of the game. Jaddu and Ashwin were rewarded for their match-winning performances in the home conditions. Pat Cummins has been named as the captain of the side for his match-winning leadership qualities in the 2023 season. Mitchell Starc and Stuart Broad are the two pacers added to the side. 

Dean Elgar was the surprising name not added in the side alongside, Josh Hazelwood was another surprising name that was missing. Zak Crawley and Harry Brook also did not make it to the team.
