The selection committee led by former India pacer Ajit Agarkar have announced the captains for the white-ball format of India for the South Africa tour.
Rohit Sharma will be leading the side in the shortest format of the game, while KL Rahul will lead the ODI leg of the tour. The 36-year-old batter led India to their first final in the major tournament since 2013. Though India lost in the final against the Aussies they performed exceptionally well and aggressive brand of cricket throughout the tournament.
Virat Kohli has not been included in the white ball side as the former India skipper informed the Indian Cricket Board of his decision to take a break. India will be playing three T20 internationals, and three ODIs, followed by two Test matches during the tour against the Proteas. Kohli will be joining the side for the two tests as the batter is trying to reduce the workload ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup.
