Pakistan's form in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 has been poor. They are currently in the 7th position in the tournament. Babar Azam's side has been lashed by the former players and experts. The skipper has been questioned over his leadership qualities and recently his chats with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Zaka Ashraf have been leaked by the Pakistani media.

Former Pakistan skipper Waqar Younis slammed the Pakistani skipper for his act. Now, Shahid Afridi also lashed out, calling the act 'shameful'. There were rumours that Zaka Ashraf was not answering the call of the No.1 ODI batter. But after a media outlet leaked the chat screenshots it was cleared that Babar did not even try to reach the PCB chief.

The personal chats have been leaked to the media and former players are fuming with the fact about the carelessness of the Pakistani skipper. Afridi is slamming the skipper and he believes that it is shameful for the nation as well.

We are defaming our players ourselves: Shahid Afridi

Afridi said on SAMAA TV, "It is a shameful move. We are defaming our nation ourselves. We are defaming our players ourselves. How can you leak someone's private messages, that too of captain Babar Azam? Earlier, it was being said that the chairman was called a few times."

"I saw Rashid Latif reporting that there is a tiff between Babar Azam and Zaka Ashraf. Babar was calling him but he wasn't answering. I think to counter those reports, this was done but it is uncalled for. The manner in which this was leaked in the media. I think Shoaib Jatt brought it up. Why did he do so? Did the chairman ask him to do so?" He further added, "Even if the chairman has done this, I am sorry to say but this is a pathetic act."

Former spinner Mushtaq Ahmed also joined the conversation saying, "Babar Azam will remember every single person who is there for him and who is not there for him. He is your captain, for God's sake. We also criticise people on our show, but it is never personal. We criticise them based on performances.''
