Gautam Gambhir has been always on social media for verbal exchanges or controversial comments about any player. He has never moved back from walking the aggressive path. Recently he was involved in a heated exchange with his former India teammate S Sreesanth during the Legends League Cricket (LLC). The batter hit two back-to-back boundaries to the bowler and then Sreesanth provoked him and Gambhir replied to him calling him a 'fixer' during the game.
Previously he had an ugly altercation with former India captain Virat Kohli during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 game between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Kohli and Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq were involved in a heated exchange during the game but after the match, Gambhir could be seen talking quite aggressively with the former captain. But things got calmed when Kohli and Naveen hugged each other during the ODI World Cup 2023 match.
On Thursday LLC also stated the argument between the two players and said they will conduct an internal investigation on the violation of the code of conduct. Gauti had discussed the incident that happened in the IPL game while giving an interview to ANI.
I have got a very different belief: Gautam Gambhir
Gambhir was asked, "Naveen Ul Haq controversy, please tell me what happened?" He replied saying, "As a mentor, no one can come and walk over my players. I have got a very different belief. Till the time the game was on, I had no right to interfere but once the game was over if someone still gets into a heated argument with my players, I have all the right to defend them."
The 42-year-old has been back to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) but this time as a mentor in the 2024 IPL. With his return, the franchise will have to find their glory days back. The franchise won two IPL trophies under his captaincy and he has been the skipper of the side for 6 years before leaving for Delhi Capitals.
