Former Pakistani skipper Inzamam Ul Haq has lashed out at Zaka Ashraf. Just a few days ago, Zaka Ashraf decided to step down as the PCB Chief. Inzamam Ul Haq now has said that the former PCB chief created a negative mindset in the team

It was a disastrous reign for Zaka Ashraf as he saw the Pakistani team finish in fifth place during the 2023 ODI World Cup. The tournament was also marred by controversies as far as the captaincy went.

Zaka Ashraf’s leaked call recording about Babar Azam also stirred a huge row. The last few months haven’t been great for the Pakistani team. Shan Masood saw his side lose to Australia 3-0, while Shaheen Afridi lost to the Kiwis 4-1 during the T20I series.

Inzamam Ul Haq calls out Zaka Ashraf –

Former Pakistan captain and selector Inzamam Ul Haq has taken a direct swipe at Zaka Ashraf. Inzamam was speaking to the media when he said “It is an important event like the World Cup in India, hearing that the PCB chairman is saying the team selected wasn’t done by the board but by the captain and chief selector only creates a negative mindset among the players”

Pakistan began the 2023 ODI World Cup with two successive wins. From 155/2 the men in green were bowled out for 191 in the key game against India. This was followed by losses to Australia and Afghanistan.

Despite a late rally, Pakistan couldn’t make it to the semi-finals of the tournament. Once the tournament was over, Babar Azam tendered his resignation as the skipper across all formats.

Just a few days after this a leaked call recording of Zaka Ashraf was released to the media. The former PCB chief could be heard speaking about the Babar Azam captaincy saga to a few close people.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s fortunes on the field haven’t changed as much. The team was blanked by Australia during the recent Test series. This was followed by a 4-1 loss to New Zealand in the T20I series.

Mohammad Rizwan spoke to the media after the series loss and expressed his views on the change in openers. “You can say that breaking the opening pair has hurt Pakistan. I can say Babar Azam has a big heart. We both agreed that there is no issue. We both told the team management that they could try whatever combination they wanted”
