Former India skipper and current director of Delhi Capitals, Sourav Ganguly has shared amazing news. The 51-year has revealed the date Rishabh Pant is formally set to make his return to the game.

According to Sourav Ganguly, Pant could get his fitness clearance certificate as early as March 5th. This is the final step for the 26-year-old to make his return to the side after missing an entire year of cricket.

Just a few weeks ago Delhi Capitals had confirmed Pant’s participation in IPL 2024. It was revealed that the team has decided that Pant will play as a specialist batter. It was also revealed that the team will not want to put more pressure on Pant to keep wickets.

Sourav Ganguly makes massive claim –

Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that Rishabh Pant is set for an imminent return to the field. The 26-year-old is soon going to get his final clearance from the NCA.

While speaking to the Times of India, here’s what Ganguly said, “Let Rishabh get cleared on March 5, only then we'll talk about captaincy backups. We are taking a cautious approach with him because he has a very long career ahead of him. We don't want to push him in excitement. We will see how Rishabh reacts. He will be joining the camp once NCA gives him the clearance. We will see match by match. We can't predict.”

When asked about who will take the wicket-keeping duties ahead of the new season, Sourav Ganguly threw out a few options. “As for wicket-keeping options, there’s Kumar Kushagra, Ricky Bhui has had a very good season. There is Shai Hope and Tristan Stubbs. Rishabh coming back fit is a huge addition for us. We hope he plays the full season because he is a very special player. We have worked on some domestic players who have done well in all formats, but Rishabh is very important.”

Delhi Capitals haven’t won the IPL yet and the closest they came was in 2020 when they reached the finals. The first game of the season will be against Punjab Kings before playing against Chennai and Kolkata.
