Ishan Kishan has been out of the international action. The wicket-keeper batter was speculated to have been out of the team for some disciplinary reasons. He has been away from action since November last year and withdrew from the South Africa tour mid-way next month, citing mental fatigue. Head coach Rahul Dravid was visibly upset by repeated questions about Ishan Kishan's absence, claiming that the player has to play some cricket before returning to the national team.
A few days back, a report claimed that Ishan had returned to Baroda and had been practising alongside the Pandya brothers, Hardik and Krunal. The young wicketkeeper-batter did not make himself available for Jharkhand's Ranji Trophy squad. Former India World Cup winner Irfan Pathan responded to the development on his official Twitter profile earlier this week, saying he was "perplexed" by the player's absence, and it appears that the board has also taken note of the situation.
As per the report from the Times of India, the Indian Cricket Board will issue a notice for all players to take part in the Ranji Trophy if they aren't “injured.” The newspaper also further stated that some players are in “IPL mode” already, which is not appreciated by the Board.
In the next few days, all the players will be communicated: Ishan Kishan
The source told TOI, "In the next few days, all the players will be communicated by the Indian Cricket Board to play for their state team in the Ranji Trophy, as long as they are not on national duty, with only those who are unfit and recovering at the NCA being granted an exemption. The Board isn't too happy with certain players already in IPL mode from January."
The left-handed batter has been in good form in white-ball cricket he has been the fastest Indian player to score a double hundred in the ODI format. The Southpaw is also out of the current Test squad that is hosting England for a 5-match Test series. The series has been balanced with 1-1.
