Mumbai Indians will play their next game on Sunday when they take on Gujarat Titans. The Beth Mooney side are yet to win against the women in blue and gold. On Saturday Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on UP Warriors in the second game of the season.
Jemimah Rodrigues lauds Sajana's story –
Mumbai Indians not only won the match but also won a lot of hearts. Jemimah Rodrigues was in awe of Sajana Sajeevan who helped MI win their first game of the season dramatically.
After initially praising the effort of Sajana, Jemimah Rodrigues wrote, “Comes from a humble background. Lost almost everything in the Kerala floods, walks in when the team requires 1 ball 5 runs and hits an effortless six! What a story and moreover what a player.”
Delhi Capitals had set Mumbai a huge total to win. After the loss of Hayley Matthews, it was Yastika Bhatia and Harmanpreet Kaur who got the team back into the game. The Mumbai skipper played well before falling for 55 in the final over to Alice Capsey.
Speaking at the end of the game, Kaur said, “Happy where we ended. Really happy with the way we played. I would love to give credit to my batting coach, Himanshu Bhaiya. After that Australia tour, I wasn’t confident. He made me practice hard and gave me energy.”
The 34-year-old also was complimentary about Sajana when she said, “We thought if we take the game deep, we can win the game. Sajana has been smashing sixes throughout the practice sessions. She showed what she is capable of.”
