On this day a year ago, India registered a famous win against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022. In a packed house at Melbourne Cricket Ground, India overcame Pakistan in a thrilling battle. Virat Kohli was the star of the show, he took India home from a tough situation, against a great bowling attack, in difficult conditions.

The Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field first. The decision of Rohut was proven right, as India got the early wickets of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. Iftikhar Ahmad's knock in the middle, along with some lower-order hitting took Pakistan to a total of over 160 runs. As Pakistan had enough total, their bowlers were confident and attacked India.

Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf were on fire and bowled a terrific spell with the new ball. In no time, India found themselves at 39/4. From that point, India was catching up in the game. The required run rate kept on increasing. The two batters in the middle, Hardik Pandya and Virat, finally started to switch the gears. Hardik struggled a bit to get going, which added more responsibilities to Virat.

A shot for ages from Virat and an eventual victory

Virat got settled and started to hit the bowlers. Hardik gave the strike to Virat, who was looking in good touch. Virat scored runs against Shaheen, Rauf, and Naseem. But it all came down to 28 runs in 8 balls. Pakistan was the favourite to win. When everything seemed to be going Pakistan's way, Rauf bowled a back-of-a-length delivery to Kohli.

Virat just pulled the ball on his backfoot, straight over the bowler's head, and fetched six runs. It was unbelievable. To hit a shot like it when the team was under pressure and to nail it was the stuff of a champion. The very next ball, Virat hit a six over the fine leg and brought down the equation to 16 runs in 6 balls. In the last over, India hit the required target and won a famous game.
