The former captain of Pakistan, Sarfaraz Ahmed has departed for the United Kingdom with plans to migrate. Uncertain about his future in the national team, the wicketkeeper-batter chose to leave the country. Despite this move, Ahmed expresses his commitment to Pakistan cricket and intends to participate in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9, representing Quetta Gladiators, as per reports.

The former Pakistan skipper has participated in the recent three-match Test series against Australia and featured in the first Test in Perth. Unfortunately, his performance with the bat was not noteworthy, managing only seven runs in the match. Subsequently, he was replaced by Mohammad Rizwan in the second and third Tests. Rizwan emerged as the leading run-scorer for Pakistan in the series, amassing 193 runs from four innings with an average of 48.25, including one fifty.

Sarfaraz has featured in 54 Tests, 117 ODIs, and 61 T20Is, serving as captain across all formats. The cricketer hailing from Karachi has accumulated 3031 runs in Tests at an average of 37.41, 2315 runs in ODIs with an average of 33.55, and 818 runs in T20Is at an average of 27.26. He is widely recognized for leading Pakistan to their second U-19 World Cup title in 2006, securing victory over India in the final.

Sarfaraz Ahmed will take part in the Pakistan Super League

Sarfaraz Ahmed is set to participate in the upcoming season of PSL, representing Quetta Gladiators. The accomplished batter has accumulated 1503 runs in 68 innings at a strike rate of 123.80 in the T20 tournament, featuring seven half-centuries. Quetta Gladiators will kick off their 2024 PSL campaign against Peshawar Zalmi at Gaddafi Stadium on February 18.

Sarfaraz Ahmed played a crucial role in guiding Pakistan to an unexpected Champions Trophy 2017 triumph, defeating India in the final. In T20Is, the former captain boasts an impressive record, winning 29 out of 37 matches with a win percentage of 78.37%. Ahmed is also ranked third in the list of Pakistan wicketkeepers with the most dismissals, tallying 371 dismissals from 232 matches. His last ODI appearance was in April 2021 against South Africa in Centurion, and his last T20I was against Bangladesh in November 2021.
