Pakistan Cricket team is currently in Australia playing a three-match test series. The Men in Green has lost the series after a fighting in the 2nd Test and their dream to win a test since 1995 in the Aussie land continues. They have not won a single test match against the Kangaroos for the last 29 years. This is the first tour for the side with the new management and board members on the side.
After they failed to qualify for the knockouts in the ODI World Cup 2023, there was heavy criticism over Babar Azam's captaincy and that led to the stepping down of the batter from the leadership role in every format of the game. Shan Masood has been named as the captain for the longest format. Shahid Afridi the former PAK captain has taken a dig at the T20I captaincy role of the team.
The former all-rounder believes wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan should have been the captain of the side in the shortest format of the game and not his son-in-law Shaheen Shah Afridi. He during the Foundation event of his charity praised the wicket-keeper and took a dig at Shaheen. Though the young speedster is yet to be tested as a leader in the T20I format he has the prior experience of captaining Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and under his stint in 2022 the franchise won their first PSL as well.

I admire Rizwan’s hard work and focus level: Shahid Afridi
Shahid Afridi said, "I admire Rizwan’s hard work and focus level. His best quality, which I like most, is only focusing on his game and paying no heed to who doing what and what is not. He is really a fighter! I wanted to see him (Rizwan) as the T20 captain, but Shaheen became the skipper by mistake." The reaction of the room was hilarious as he said so in public and Shaheen was caught laughing at the very same comment.
The Men in Green will be playing New Zealand, and this will be their practice as well before the T20 World Cup that is scheduled in June.
