Pakistan's performance in the ODI World Cup 2023 has been poor though they are currently in the fifth position in the table and have finally won a match against Bangladesh after four consecutive losses in the tournament. But Shaheen Shah Afridi whose World Cup has been cold has become the No.1 ODI bowler. The most interesting thing is that the No.1 ODI batter also belongs to Pakistan's captain Babar Azam.

Afridi has picked up 16 wickets in the mega-event but he is not in his best form. He has an economy of 5.22 and has not picked wickets with the new ball. The 23-year-old became the fastest Pakistan bowler to take 100 ODI wickets during the game against Bangladesh. He broke the long-held record of legendary spinner Saqlin Mushtaq. On Tuesday Shaheen gave the Men in Green a good start as he picked the wicket of Tanzid Hasan in the first over.

The star pacer has taken 105 wickets in Tests in just 46 innings apart from 64 wickets in T20 internationals. The Men in Green have an outside chance to qualify for the semi-final. They have to win all their matches keep the run rate positive and hope New Zealand and Australia lose one of their remaining matches.

Not a surprise because it doesn't swing that much in the IPL also: Shaheen Shah Afridi

After the match, Shaheen said, "Not a surprise because it doesn't swing that much in the IPL also. I think this ball is also slightly different. It's not just me, all left-arm fast bowlers, even Mitchell Starc and Trent Boult [are finding it difficult]. I am trying to swing it, but it is not going that much. So length is crucial."

Australia's Josh Hazlewood (663) has dropped to second position in the ODI bowling rankings. The star Indian pacer Mohammad Siraj has dropped from second to third place with 655 points. Keshav Maharaj of South Africa is fourth. Kuldeep Yadav has also dropped one spot to seventh place with 646 points. Jasprit Bumrah is still ranked 11th with 629 points.  In terms of batting, Shubman Gill is just two points away from Pakistan's skipper to be the No.1 ODI batter.
