Former India cricketer, Gautam Gambhir leaves active politics to concentrate more on his cricket commitments. Before the start of the IPL, Gambhir was announced as the Mentor of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team. Gambhir, who was representing the East Delhi constituency, is returning to the KKR franchise after six long years. It was under Gambhir's captaincy in 2012 when KKR won the finals for the first time after defeating CSK in their backyard.
"I have requested Hon’ble Party President @JPNadda ji to relieve me of my political duties so that I can focus on my upcoming cricket commitments. I sincerely thank Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji and Hon’ble HM @AmitShah ji for allowing me to serve the people. Jai Hind!"
The World Cup winner joined politics in the year 2019 and won the East Delhi seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by a substantial margin of 6,95,109 votes. He was an active member of the party and gave his best in all these years. Moreover, Gambhir's passion for Cricket is quite evident and his decision to just focus on that wasn't surprising.
Indian Premier League (IPL) to start on March 22
The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will start on March 22 and the match is between the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) vs the tournament favourites, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The IPL Chairman released the tournament schedule for the first 17 days as the elections are scheduled for April. Once the election dates are announced, the officials will release the rest of the fixtures.
Thanks to the Board and their dedication towards cricket, the IPL will be held in India despite the elections. Earlier in 2014, due to elections, the matches were shifted to Dubai. One of the best things about conducting the tournament in India is the amount of revenue generated by the tournament. It's a win-win situation for the Indian Cricket Board to conduct the IPL in the country.
Politics has lost today. India has lost today.

There is no point giving ticket
to celebrities and make them MPs. They will always be occupied with one thing or another and their constituency is the last thing on their mind.
I hope BJP will give ticket to a karyakarta…
Virat and Dhoni fans right now 🤣pic.twitter.com/iajFhDfEzj
