Sunil Gavaskar drops shocking comments

Team India is currently touring South Africa for all-format games against the Proteas. They have recently concluded the T20I series which was a 1-1 draw between the sides. Most of the senior players who were part of the ODI World Cup 2023 for the Men in Blue were given rest for the shortest format of the game. They played a fearless brand of cricket in the mega-event winning 10 matches in a row and then eventually losing the final against Australia.

The heartbreaking loss was for the whole nation and it has been a month since the loss but the players and the fans are still upset about the loss in the final against the Aussies. Skipper Rohit Sharma and former skipper Virat Kohli were in tears after the loss and since then the former came up and gave up an interview for the first time since the loss.

Former India World Cup winner Sunil Gavaskar has now revealed his opinion on the several distractions that exist. With the focus shifting to a bilateral series at home, and then the tour of South Africa, to go with the IPL 2024 retentions, followed by the auction on December 19, Indian cricket is back up and running. But the former skipper pointed out that he, along with many more was not too interested in the T20I series against Australia

Barely had the tears dried up: Sunil Gavaskar

Gavaskar said, "Barely had the tears dried up after the unexpected loss in the final of the World Cup, Indian cricket showed it could move on. The focus was shifted to the transfer window for the IPL next season. Yes, there was a five-match T20 series being played between India and Australia, but hey, after what was a memorable World Cup, who was bothered about the T20 series except the staunch Indian cricket lovers."

"The big boys from both teams were not playing anyway, so there was no compelling reason to watch the T20 series after two months of top-class ODI cricket. Instead, there was much more intrigue and interest in the transfer and trade, which was to be done within that week's deadline."
