India had a sensational ODI World Cup in 2023. They played a brilliant brand of cricket under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma winning 10 matches in a row and the 36-year-old batter became the first captain to achieve the milestone. They were defeated by Australia in the final of the mega-event on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The whole nation was shocked by the loss of the team after such a mesmerising run in the tournament.
Rohit since then has not been part of the white-ball side for the Men in Blue. The star opener has been given rest and there have been speculations of whether the batter will be captaining the side in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. Rohit was the second-highest runscorer for the tournament and played an aggressive brand of cricket, giving a fiery start at the top of the order. The Hitman is set to join the side for the two-match test against South Africa.
After the marquee tournament, Rohit gave his first interview, he believes that it was very hard for him to move on from the loss. The batter thanked the cricket fans and the stadium for their support in the marquee event. Rohit reveals that fans continued to shower their blessings with all the love possible because he was in tears after the loss in the final.

I decided that I need to get my mind out of this: Rohit Sharma
Rohit Said, "After the final, it was very hard to get back and start moving on, which is why I decided that I need to get my mind out of this. But then, wherever I was, I realised that people were coming up to me and they were appreciating everyone’s effort, how well we played. I feel for all of them. They all, along with us, were dreaming of lifting that World Cup, along with us."
"Everywhere we went during this entire campaign, there was so much support from everyone who came to the stadium firstly and people who were watching it from home as well. I want to appreciate what the people have done for us, in that one and half month period. But again, if I think more and more about that I feel quite disappointed that we were not able to go all the way."
