Suryakumar Yadav is currently the world's best T20I batter, thanks to his exploits ever since his international debut in March 2021. However, the 32-year-old has failed to replicate his heroics in ODIs and has struggled to find runs in this format. Meanwhile, with the 2023 Asia Cup approaching, the right-hander expressed optimism that he would be able to crack the ODI format soon.

India will open their Asia Cup 2023 campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on September 2 in Kandy. Suryakumar is expected to grab a lot of attention in the tournament as he is yet to impress in the format. With averaging just over 24 with 511 runs after 26 games, his stats are not impressive, but still, the management has reposed faith in him given his excellent form in T20s.

I'll try to improve without changing my approach: Suryakumar

Suryakumar, who is in a five-day skill-enhancing camp at Alur in Karnataka for Team India's final preparations, said he has been discussing a lot with the head coach Rahul Dravid, senior players like skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli about getting better in ODIs.

"I am hoping that I can crack the ODI format soon, I have been talking with Rahul sir, Rohit, Virat a lot for getting better in ODI. I've talked to Rohit Bhai, Virat bhai and Rahul Bhai. I'll try to improve in the ODI format without changing my approach," the Mumbai cricketer told Star Sports.

Although SKY is not in his best form in the 50-over format, he will be a key player in the upcoming major tournaments in India. The management is hoping to get his T20 skills in this format where he can score quick runs at the end of the innings. The Asia Cup is the final phase of the Asian team's preparations for the upcoming ODI World Cup.
