Babar Azam, the skipper of the Pakistan cricket team, played a brilliant knock of 101 runs off just 58 deliveries in the second T20I match against New Zealand, helping his team secure a 38-run win over the visitors. With this victory, Pakistan took a 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series against New Zealand.

Azam's innings was studded with 11 boundaries and three sixes, as he held the Pakistani innings together after his opening partner, Mohammad Rizwan, was dismissed for a well-made 50 off just 34 deliveries. Azam's 99-run partnership with Rizwan set the foundation for a big score for Pakistan.

However, wickets fell in quick succession after Rizwan's dismissal, and it looked like Pakistan might not be able to post a big total. But Azam had other plans, as he accelerated his innings after the 15th over and started hitting the New Zealand bowlers all over the park. He smashed two sixes and a four off Matt Henry in the 18th over and followed it up with a six and two fours in the final over off James Neesham to reach his century in just 58 balls.

Azam's brilliant knock helped Pakistan reach a mammoth total of 192 runs, which proved to be too much for New Zealand to chase down. The Pakistani bowlers, led by Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali, bowled with great discipline and restricted the New Zealand batsmen to just 154 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

Definitely, I am very happy- Azam

After the match, Azam expressed his happiness with his performance and praised his team's bowling line-up. "Definitely, I am very happy to perform in this match. I tried to stay till the end and play all overs and utilized the last few overs, and we managed to get a good total," he said. "Our bowling line-up is excellent. We have got experienced bowlers and some exciting young bowlers."

Azam's third T20I century is a testament to his class as a batsman and his importance to the Pakistan cricket team. He will be hoping to continue his rich vein of form in the third and final T20I match against New Zealand and help his team complete a whitewash of the visitors.
