South Korea have defeated Portugal and have sent Uruguay out of the FIFA World Cup despite having the same number of points in Group H. Let's look at how the two games panned out.

Ghana vs Uruguay (0-2)

Ghana vs Uruguay was a chance for the South American team to get to the Round of 16 with a win.  A brace from Giorgian de Arrascaeta put them in front but an injury-time goal from South Korea broke Uruguay's heart as they lagged the Asian team in goal difference and as a result crashed out of the FIFA World Cup 2022.

With just 3 points in 3 matches, Ghana also failed to qualify for the Round of 16. Uruguay, on the other hand, had to go out despite having the same point as South Korea but they had scored fewer goals (2) compared to South Korea's 4.

South Korea vs Portugal (2-1)

South Korea came into the game with just 2 points in two matches. They needed a win to get through to the next round. Portugal opened the scoring in 5 minutes after Ricardo Horta scored a goal for the European country. Similar to Japan, Kim Young-gwon equalised and later substitue Hwang Hee-chan scored an injury-time goal to get past Portugal in the game and Uruguay in the points table.

With 4 points and a goal difference of 0 goals, South Africa have qualified for the Round of 16 and so has Portugal with 6 points in 3 matches.

Round of 16 teams: Netherlands, Senegal, England, USA, Argentina, Poland, France, Australia, Japan, Spain, Morocco, Croatia, Brazil, Portugal, South Korea
