Ruturaj Gaikwad has shown sensational form in the ongoing Indian T20 League edition. He notched his second half-century in his second game on Monday. He is doing so at a strike rate of almost 200 which is extraordinary and looks to score tons of runs in the 16th edition of the Indian T20 League.

The Chennai team, commanded by MS Dhoni, lost to Gujarat by five wickets in the season's opening match in Ahmedabad. They are up against Lucknow team that defeated Delhi in their opening game with precision. They had a 50-run victory in their previous match going into this contest.

However, it should be mentioned that Chennai will be playing in the presence of their devoted home crowd at Chepauk Stadium this time. Chennai have not played here since 2019, and over the years, many great sides have completely failed to defeat them at home.

Lucknow had an uncertain beginning with the ball after Rahul claimed the toss and elected to bowl first. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the opener of the Chennai franchise, made the most of it. The powerplay score of 79 runs by Gaikwad and batting partner Devon Conway is the highest in the Indian T20 League for Chennai at the Chepauk.

Gaikwad got his last fifty in 29 balls in the last match and this time, he gets it in just 25 balls at a strike rate of exactly 200. It has been a strong start to the season for him and can be crucial for Chennai’s hopes for a fifth title. It also has to be kept in mind that Gaikwad had a spectacular season in all forms of domestic cricket as well.

After reaching fifty, he had a small stroke of chance when Yash Thakur's top edge sailed over short fine leg. However, he ran out of it when Ravi Bishnoi dismissed him off his first ball in the following over. He succumbed in flight and by a quick spin as Mark Wood expertly pouched a top-edge at short third.
