Defending Champions Gujarat Titans are currently taking on the five-time champions Gujarat Titrans in the ongoing IPL 2023 match at the Wankhede Stadium. Batting first, MI posted a huge total of 218 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, powered by the century by the star batter Suryakumar Yadav.

Before the match. GT skipper Hardik Pandya was seen hugging MI owner Akash Ambani. Notably, Pandya was a part of MI from 2015 to 2021 before he was bought by GT ahead of the 2022 season. In his very first season as the skipper. Pandya lead GT to their inaugural IPL title last year.

Talking about the match, GT won the toss and elected to field first in match number 57 of the season. MI had a flying start as the skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan added 61 runs for the first wicket in 6.1 overs. Rohit got out after scoring 29 runs off 18 balls hitting three fours and two sixes. While a couple of deliveries later, Kishan also lost his wicket after scoring 31 off 20 balls hitting four fours and a maximum as Rashid Khan struck twice in the same over.

Suryakumar Yadav smashed his maiden IPL ton

After that, Suryakumar Yadav took charge of the innings as he went to smash his maiden IPl century. Suryakumar added 65 runs with Vishnu Vinod for the fourth wicket. Vinod got out after scoring 30 runs off 20 balls hitting two fours and two sixes. After that, Surykamar took the innings further as he remained unbeaten on 103 runs off just 49 balls hitting 11 fours and six sixes.

Suryakumar smashed a six on the last ball of the innings to reach the triple-figure. His innings helped MI to go past 210 runs. For GT, Rashid Khan scalped 4 wickets by conceding 30 runs in his four overs. While Mohit Sharma put 1 in his bag. Now GT need 219 runs to confirm their qualification into the playoffs. However, MI also started well with the balls so far as they picked up 2 wickets in GT’s chase.
