The Indian Cricket Board has announced India’s squad for the Test Championship final against Australia which is set to take place on June 7 at The Oval in England and surprised every cricket fan in India by including the experienced batter Ajinky Rahane in the squad. The right-hander batter will don the Indian Test jersey after 15 months.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has raised questions on the official cricket board of India for not including the no.1 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav in the squad. Aakash said that he is happy for Rahane but Suryakumar's inclusion and exclusion in the squad doesn’t make any sense to him.

“Happy for Rahane. But how does the SKY inclusion-exclusion make sense?? Select kyon kiya…kar liya toh ek match ke baad drop kyon kiya? (Why was he selected? If they did select him, why was he dropped after just one match?)”

Brilliant performance by Rahane in IPL

Suryakumar made his Test debut in the first test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia but couldn’t produce anything special as he got dismissed on the score of just 8 runs. However, he never got another chance after that. His performance in the ODI series against the Kangaroos was also horrible as he registered three back-t0-back golden ducks in the series

However, Rahane's inclusion in the squad really shock the cricket universe as he was first sacked from the vice-captaincy and then also ruled out of the team due to bad performance in the South Africa tour. However, he performed brilliantly throughout the Ranji Trophy season that just ended. For Mumbai, he amassed 634 runs at an average of 57.63 thanks to two centuries.

But his team was unable to get to the knockout rounds. Rahane is also having an outstanding season in the 16th IPL. For MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings, he has scored 209 runs in five innings at an average of 52.25. The strike rate for him is 199.04. Rahane benefited from this as he was chosen for the team. The injury to Shreyas Iyer, though, is also a factor in his selection.
