The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) prevailed over the Mumbai Indians in a tense 5-run win at the Ekana Stadium. The coin went the way of the Mumbai Indians as they opted to bowl first. LSG made 177-3 in their 20 overs on the back of a herculean effort by Marcus Stoinis. He made a match-winning 89 off 47 balls with four fours and eight sixes. Mohsin Khan was sensational with the ball as he bowled an outstanding last over to keep Cameron Green and Tim David at bay.

After the game ended Gautam Gambhir was quick to post an appreciation tweet for the two match winners Stoinis and Mohsin. The two Ms - Marcus and Mohsin! Breathtaking performance. Gambhir wrote on Twitter. Gambhir was in a very different mood himself after the win. He was very jovial and in a funny mood and was seen laughing and cracking jokes. Mohsin conceded 26 runs in his three-over spell and picked up Nehal Wadhera's wicket.

LSG were tottering at 35-3. Then Krunal Pandya and Stonis formed a match-saving partnership for LSG. Krunal made 49 off 42 balls with one four and one six. He formed a great alliance with the Australian all-rounder and put LSG in a great position. Stonis was particularly severe on Chris Jordan who gave away 24 runs in the 18th over consisting of three fours and two sixes.

In the second innings, MI got off to a fast start courtesy of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. MI were 103-2 after 11.1 over and it looked like they would just coast through for a win. But, that was not to be as the LSG bowlers struck back with wickets at regular intervals. Ravi Bishnoi dismissed both the openers in his four-over spell and gave away only 26 runs.

The Indian pace bowlers stepped up for LSG and kept the runs down in the death overs. Once Kishan fell, it was not easy for the new batters to come and score quickly on a slow pitch at the Ekana Stadium. LSG put a lot of joy on the faces of the home crowd after that nail-biting thriller.
