Popular action video game franchise Halo is now getting its own tabletop game this year. 343 Industries have partnered with UK-based tabletop studio Mantic Games
Table-top games are quite famous. The Dungeon and Dragons series was also made into video games and most recently, Baldur’s Gate also became very popular among gamers due to its similar theme. CDPR's Cyberpunk 2077 was also based on its tabletop game.
Halo already have a great story across multiple novels, comics and games. With the new tabletop game, the company seems to be giving the fans of the franchise a new way to play and experience the story.
“We are thrilled to team up with Mantic Games to bring a new Halo tabletop game to fans in 2024. Mantic is a leader in tabletop gaming, and their quality and experience show through in all their work. I’m most excited in this case about their passion for the Halo franchise and for bringing Halo gameplay to tabletop gaming in an incredibly authentic way, said Head of Halo and Xbox Consumer Products, John Friend.
Halo is one of the biggest and oldest FPS action game franchises with a huge fanbase. The franchise includes multiple instalments and esports tournaments. However, in the last few years, 343 is struggled to bring out better content.
The 2021 Halo Infinite also saw criticism over the lack of content and a proper campaign. Many multiplayer maps and modes were also missing. While the company have updated the game and made several improvements, the damage done on launch was huge.
As for the new project, the CEO of Mantic Games, Ronnie Renton expressed his excitement on this new partnership saying, “We’re extremely excited to be partnering with 343 Industries on bringing Halo to tabletops everywhere.”
While the company did not reveal what the game would be called, they did reveal that the first preview for the new game will be in March 2024 and the game will be launching in September 2024.
