The four-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) created another milestone as they are all set to play their 10th IPL final this season after defeating the defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 1st qualifier of the Indian Premier League 2023. GT will clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 2nd qualifier and the winner will then face CSK in the final.

Meanwhile, CSK star speedster Deepak Chahar expressed his wish to play against the five-time champions MI in the final as he believes that they had a history with them. While talking to former CSK star Suresh Raina, Deepak revealed the reason why he wants MI to qualify for the final. Raina told Deepak that CSK had lost a lot of IPL finals against MI, to which, Deepak replied that they want to change the record this time.

“I’d like Mumbai Indians to play in the final. We have a history with them,”. His former CSK teammate turned commentator, Suresh Raina mentioned, “CSK have lost a lot of finals from Mumbai” to which Chahar responded replied with a laugh, “Wahi toh badalna hai (That’s what we want to change).” Deepak said in the post-match interview.

Deepak produced a brilliant performance against GT in the 1st qualifier as he picked up 2 wickets and conceded only 29 runs in his 4 overs quota. However, during the match, Deepak took a catch of Mohammed Shami on the last ball and was seen in some discomfort after completing the catch but played down any injury scare after the game he cleared up everything about the injury after the match, and he also talked about the upcoming final as well.

“Everything's okay, one more to go. I think the length, we saw them bowling, it was sticking and we decided to bowl a full length, didn't experiment too much, and let them (the batters) take the risks. Chasing 170 in a semi-final with the crowd against you is difficult.

I have played in playoffs before, I just told them about the pressure (when asked about what he told the juniors), I just asked them to be confident about their skills, just one ball or catch is very important at this stage. We have the belief, we have done it so many times (on reaching the finals), the benefit of having seniors in big contests matter a lot, we have been there previously and it does help."
