Former India skipper Virat Kohli is already in Bengaluru and has passed the yo-yo test on Thursday ahead of the Asia Cup in Bangalore’s National Cricket Academy (NCA) Bengaluru. He shared a story on his Instagram account on Thursday, August 24. Kohli also revealed his score – 17.2.

The Men in Blue have arrived in Bengaluru for a training camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) where the players will train together before flying to Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup 2023. They will be at Alur for their practice sessions starting tomorrow. The team will travel to the Lankan Island on August 30.

Virat Kohli always sets a benchmark

Expressed his happiness over passing the test, the 34-year-old stated, "The happiness of finishing the yo-yo test between the dreaded cones. 17.2 done." India will begin their Asia Cup 2023 campaign with a match against their arch-rivals Pakistan on September 2.

He has once again proved why he is arguably one of the fittest athletes on the planet. According to the Indian Cricket Board, a player must attain 16.5 to pass the yo-yo test and the 34-year-old's is way higher than the benchmark set by the board.

According to various reports, players failing to meet the fitness standards will be pulled out by the Indian Cricket Board. KL Rahul will be under the scanner as chief selector Ajit Agarakar while announcing the squad has revealed in the press conference that the wicket-keeper batter has a niggle.

On Wednesday according to Cricketnext reports 14 net bowlers were selected by the Indian Cricket Board for the five-day preparatory camp. The Board stated, "In addition to the Asia Cup squad, 14 net bowlers will be part of the Asia Cup preparatory camp. The idea is to ensure intensity and quality of net sessions is right up there and it doesn’t burn out the bowling resources."

Kohli will be a crucial part of the Men in Blue in the Asia Cup, especially in countering Pakistan's pace bowling attack, with the likes of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah.
