India suffered an embarrassing 209-run loss in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 final against Australia on June 11. Due to this, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was brutally criticised by cricket pundits and was also trolled by many fans on social media. Some even asked him to leave the Test captaincy.

Meanwhile, Rohit talked about the match in the post-match conference and said that a 3-match Test series for the WTC final would be an ideal way for the biggest Test event. As it takes a lot of hard work to reach the final and according to him, 1 match is not enough to define a champion. He also talked about Shubman Gill's controversial decision in the 2nd innings and said more camera angles should've been shown.

"I would prefer a best-of-three final for the World Test Championship as it would be ideal to compete over 3 Tests after all the hard work, over 2 years, in reaching the final. However, we need to find a window for that. It would be ideal if there are 3 Tests in the next cycle. June is not the only month to play the WTC final. It could be played anywhere in the world, not just in England.” Rohit was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

“More camera angles should have been shown. There was only one or two camera angles that were shown. We've got 10 different angles in IPL. I don't know why in a world event like this, there was no ultra motion that was seen or any kind of zoomed image was seen,” he added.

He hit the officials directly: Rashid Latif

Meanwhile, former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Rashid Latif didn't look happy with Rohit's comment on Gill's dismissal and slammed the Indian skipper on his YouTube Channel. He believes that the 36-year-old batter took a direct dig at the cricket governing body.

“He asked the apex cricket council directly. 'Why in June?' I had said the same thing earlier. And why only in England? Who was he telling all this to?  cricket governing body, of course. On Shubman Gill's catch, he talked about the lack of camera angles. He hit the officials directly. Behind the scenes, it's the apex cricket body vs the Indian Cricket body. The 38.5 percent increase that you read about (a report that the official board of cricket in India will receive 38.5 percent of the apex cricket council's earnings)... there's no official release on that. It was a report on a website. Who wrote that? There is a conflict of interest." Latif was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
