ODI cricket continues to be left in the wilderness amid the amount of T20 Internationals played, the rise in T20 leagues, and Test cricket. Part of the attractiveness of the 2022 20-20 World Cup was the battle between bat and ball. This needs to be replicated in ODI cricket where pitches are often flat.
The 50-over format took a back seat in 2022 as the 20-20 World cup took place this year. Many players were focused on the shorter format because of the world cup but as the 50-over World Cup is set to take place in the next year, we will take a look at those Indian players who have performed well in ODIs this year and who could be included in India’s ODI XI of the year.
1. Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill is in phenomenal form with the bat this year and made the most of the opportunities that have come his way. The Punjab-born has featured in 12 games in the 50-over format and notched up 638 runs that too at an impressive strike rate of 102.57, which includes four half-centuries and one century.
2. Ishan Kishan

India opener Ishan Kishan is in brilliant form currently as he hit the fastest double ton in the white-ball format against Bangladesh. He scored 417 runs in the 7 innings he played which includes 2 half-centuries and one century with a brilliant average of almost 60.
