Sanju Samson is considered to be one of the unluckiest cricketers in India and the Men in Blue batter has always been neglected for obvious reasons that were reason clearly stated by the Indian team management and the Indian cricket board. As things stand, the right-handed batter received an offer from the Ireland cricket board to represent the nation. To add more, the Irish board expressed interest in roping the player in, on the back of his lack of opportunities in India.
The president of the Ireland cricket board, David Griffin said that the Indian batter has all it takes to lead the team and assured of playing him in all of their matches. Saying that he is one of the rare talents at the moment, the president claimed that it would be an honour for them to receive him and let him take part in their international games and also task him with leading the side in all of their games.
We will let Sanju Samson play all the matches: David Griffin
Samson is one of the batters who have done well for team India in the 50-over format and the shortest format of the game. As far as his leadership is concerned, the Indian batter led the Rajasthan team to the finals of the Indian T20 League 2022 edition.
“We will let him play all the matches if he is in our national team. He is a very impressive batter and he is one of the rare talent. We provide him an offer to play the matches from our national team. Our team required a skipper and batter like him. If the Indian team is overlooking him then he can join us, we respect him and make him play every match,” Griffin was quoted as saying.
However, the Indian batter was quick enough to respond to the offer and reject the same. Claiming that he started his career with India, Samson said that he cannot even think of playing for other countries barring India.
“First of all, I want to thank Ireland’s cricket president for considering me for this role but I can’t accept his offer. I started my cricketing to play for Indian national cricket team. I don’t want to play for any other nation or can’t even think to play for another nation. I can’t accept this offer and I want to say sorry to Ireland’s cricket president,” Samson was quoted as saying.
