For the first Test of the series against West Indies, India has two debutants. The two Southpaws, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Ishan Kishan, have gained their Test caps to represent Team India. The batter from Jharkhand will also be the wicketkeeper for the Test as far as India is concerned. Yashasvi Jaiswal is set to open the innings with Rohit Sharma, as Shubman Gill is likely to bat at number 3.

Indian lineup for the match also has the likes of Shardul Thakur, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin as the All-rounder trio. Mohammad Siraj, Jaydev Unadkat, and Virat Kohli are also in the XI apart from the captain Rohit Sharma and Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane.

The two youngsters looked happy as they received their Test caps. While Kishan received the Test cap from Virat Kohli, Jaiswal received his maiden India cap from the captain. The two young batters posed for photographs after receiving their caps and expressed their happiness.

Domestic stats of Jaiswal and Kishan

Jaiswal has made a name for himself in first-class cricket with consistent performances over the years. The opening batter from Mumbai has been terrific in the last few domestic seasons for his team. The 21-year-old has played 15 games in First class cricket and scored 1844 runs at a spectacular average of 80.2. In List A, Jaiswal has scored 1511 runs in 32 matches at an average of 54.00. In IPL 2023, Jaiswal impressed everyone with his batsmanship.

Ishan Kishan, on the other hand, has been in and around the Indian team for some time. The 24-year-old made his international debut in 2021 and has been in the limited-overs side of India since then. Earlier this year, Kishan got his maiden call-up in Tests against Australia, although he could not make his debut. Against West Indies, Kishan made his debut, who averages 38.8 in 48 first-class games and 37.8 in 91 List-A games. The young wicketkeeper batter has 2985 and 3029 runs respectively in first-class and List-A games for his team.
