The Indian Cricket Board has confirmed that KL Rahul will not be able to play the final match of the Test Championship against Australia. On May 7, they have also announced his replacement and included wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan in the squad. However, KS Bharat is more likely to be in the squad as Kishan hasn't played a single Test match in his career so far.

Meanwhile, along with the replacement of Rahul, the official cricket board has also announced the names of three standby players. This includes opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, fast bowler Mukesh Kumar and explosive and no. 1 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav. These three players will go to England with Team India.

My focus will be on my rehabilitation: KL Rahul

Earlier in the ongoing IPL 2023, Rahul was injured while fielding in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He was running to save the boundary but accidentally pulled his hamstring and couldn't stand after that. However, somehow he came to bat at no.11 while his team were losing the match and received a lot of appreciation.
After being out of IPL 2023, Rahul informed this on Instagram, he gave the latest update on his injury and wrote in the caption, "After careful consideration and consultation with the medical team, it's been concluded that I'll be undergoing surgery on my thigh shortly. My focus will be on my rehabilitation and recovery in the coming weeks. It's a tough call to make, but I know it's the right one to ensure a full recovery.
"Absolutely gutted that I won't be at the Oval next month with Team India. I'll do everything I can to get back in blue and help my country. That has always been my focus and priority. @indiancricketteam"
