The ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022 will come to an end with Pakistan and England locking horns in the summit clash on November 13, Sunday and the Men in Green made it to the semis on the back of an upset from Netherlands when they beat mighty South Africa by 13 runs.
With India crashing out of the T20 extravaganza, many former cricketers from the country and from the neighbourhood have been taking a dig either directly or indirectly. While legendary cricketers from India came out to point out the mistakes, many former cricketers from Pakistan left no stone unturned to thrash the Men in Blue.
Shoaib Akhtar, the former Pakistan pacer, slammed the Indian team and said that a team cannot win the World Cup by making it to the semis only by defeating Zimbabwe and Netherlands. The fiery pacer also questioned India’s intent on his YouTube channel and said that they do not have a proper fast bowler.
India need to look at their leadership: Shoaib Akhtar
Akthar said further that the Indian team must take a look at their leadership and called the team management to find a solution for the same. Commenting on India’s poor outing in the semis against England on Thursday, Akhtar said that India did not deserve to play against Pakistan in the finals.
“India don’t have express fast bowlers or cut-throat spinners in their team. Their team selection was also confusing and the players were brutally hammered. Indian pacers can’t perform if the conditions don’t suit them. Very disappointing performance from India and they don’t deserve to meet us (Pakistan) in the final at MCG. Their cricket has been exposed today,” Akhtar said on his YouTube channel.
“Reaching the semi-finals isn’t a big deal. There were 4 good teams in total. You beat Netherlands and Zimbabwe, that’s nothing. India need to look at their leadership and the management needs to take accountability. It was a confusing selection as they went with Mohammed Shami despite having other good pacers at their disposal,” said the pacer further.
