England won the final Ashes Test against Australia at the Kennington Oval on Monday to draw the series 2-2. England captain Ben Stokes believes their draw can boost Test cricket amid question marks over the red-ball format in recent years. Australia, chasing 384 to win, collapsed from 264-3 to 334 all out.

The draw after being 2-0 down, in the Ashes was an exceptional comeback by the Three Lions. They could have even won 3-2 but their hopes of lifting the urn were hampered by a rain-affected fourth Test. Stuart Broad who already announced his retirement after the Ashes, was a fairytale finish for the veteran pacer, as he picked up the last wicket of his career and the match as well.

We’ve continued everything in the style of play in which we’ve done over the past 14-15 months: Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes stated praising Bazball, "When we beat New Zealand 3-0, it was we couldn't do it against South Africa then couldn't do it against Pakistan then couldn't do it against Australia so who knows we can't do it against India, only time will tell (smiles)."

He further stated, "We’ve continued everything in the style of play in which we’ve done over the past 14-15 months and it’s basically been everything I think I could have asked for minus getting the urn back." "I have been in a quandary in this series," he told Sky Sports. "I see the bigger picture of wanting to entertain but I have also seen the historical picture of 'we used to get battered by this lot."

Stokes' team has always responded aggressively when there has been doubt, reinforcing their "Bazball" strategies. As Stokes pointed out, they won the Test series 2-1 after defeating New Zealand 3-0 last summer, when attention focused on their potential to triumph against South Africa.

Australia was defeated by 49 runs in the fifth and final Ashes Test at The Oval, thanks to game-changing performances from England's Chris Woakes and Moeen Ali. They also helped Stuart Broad write a fairytale ending to his career. Despite not being chosen for the first two games, Chris Woakes, who picked up 4-50 on the last day, was voted as the player of the series.
