India beat Afghanistan in super over

India beat Afghanistan in the super over in the third and final T20I game on Wednesday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengluru. Before the game the Men in Blue were already leading and won the series 3-0.  Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first. The side made three changes with Avesh Khan, Sanju Samson and Kuldeep Yadav got a game time in the dead rubber game against the Afghans. The hosts did not get the start they wanted as they lost their four batters inside the powerplay leading them to a score 22/4.

Then captain and Rinku Singh stitched a partnership of 190 runs off 100 deliveries. The former scored his fifth T20I hundred and became the first batter to achieve so and the latter gave brilliant support underpressure. Rohit's bat has been quite as he has scored two ducks in the first two games and in the third T20I when the team was struggling and showed his class. 

Rinku also scored his second T20I fifty and gave good support to his captaincy, as the both batters smashed 14 sixes among them and scored 103 runs in the last 5 overs. The 36-year-old batter scored 121 off 69 balls hitting 8 sixes and 11 fours. This was also Rohit's career best score in the shortest format of the game and fourth highest overall. He also became the leading run getter as an Indian captain in the T20I history surpassing Virat Kohli's record of 1570 runs. 

Afghanistan goes down fighting

In reply the visitors openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and skipper Ibrahim Zadran gave them a good start as they scored 51 runs in the powerplay without losing a wicket. The former scored his 6th T20I half-century and the latter also scored a fifty and both batters were dismissed after scoring 50s. They lost their first wicket for 93 runs. Gulbadin Naib played a solid innings off 55 runs off 23 deliveries. 

But from the other end the wickets kept on falling and they lost the momentum that they started. Washington Sundar was the pick of the bowlers picking 3 wickets. In the last over they needed 18 to win and Mukesh Kumar bowled brilliantly underpressure and gave out just 17 runs and the match went on to the super over. In the super over Gurbaz and Naib and they lost wicket in the first ball and scored 16 runs and the Men in Blue tied the game and it went for another super over. The hosts posted 12 runs target and the visitors lost two wickets for just one run.
