Ben Stokes livid with controversial DRS decision

India defeated England by a hefty margin of 434 runs while they were chasing a target of 556 runs the three lions were bowled out for 122 runs. Ben Stokes after the game was livid with the umpiring decision during the 4th Day of the match when their opener Zak Crawley was given LBW out by Sri Lanka umpire Kumar Dharmasena, but the batter reviewed the decision, though the decision stood as the soft signal was out.

Captain Stokes was unhappy and shocked with the umpiring decision and believed that the ball never hit the stumps and that the Decision Review System (DRS) did not work well for the visiting side. After the wicket of Crawley, they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and could not even take the Test on the 5th Day of the game.

The visitors after winning the 1st Test have lost the momentum as they have lost back-to-back matches and given up their 1-0 lead. The Men in Blue outplayed their opponents totally on the fourth day after Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his second double-century of the series. The left-handed batter has pounced on the English bowlers and smashed them all over the park.

We just wanted some clarity around Zak’s DRS when the images came back: Ben Stokes

Stokes told talkSPORT, "We just wanted some clarity around Zak’s DRS when the images came back. The ball is quite clearly missing the stump on the replay. So when it gets given the umpire’s call and the ball’s not hitting the stumps, we were a bit bemused. "

"We just wanted some clarity from Hawk-Eye. It came back saying the numbers were saying that it was hitting the stumps but it was the projection that was wrong. I don’t know what that means. Something’s gone wrong. I think when [the] people in charge of it say something has gone wrong that is enough in itself. We’ve been on the wrong end of three umpire’s calls this game and that is part of DRS. You’re either on the right side or the wrong side. Unfortunately, we’ve been on the wrong side."
