Team India beat England by 434 runs to register their highest win in Test cricket in terms of runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal took away all the plaudits for his amazing double century during the fourth day of the game. 

Sarfaraz Khan was under focus as he smashed two successive fifties on debut. The youngster was not out on 68 to take his match total to 130 runs. It was a special debut for a player who had to bide his team before getting his Test cap.

4- Dilawar Hussain vs England (1934, Kolkata)

Nearly 90 years ago when India were the newest kid on the block in Test cricket, Dilawar Hussain made history. The batter scored back-to-back test fifties on debut for India against England. The wicketkeeper and batter scored 116 runs with the bat with 59 runs as his highest. In the first innings, Hussain opened the batting and scored 59 runs while scoring 57 in the 2nd dig batting at number 8. 

3 Sunil Gavaskar vs West Indies (1971, Trinidad and Tobago )

One of India’s best-ever batters, Sunil Gavaskar had scored 774 runs in his debut series against the West Indies. In his first-ever Test, the master batter began with 65 runs in the 1st innings. This was followed by a knock of 67 not out as India won the Test match with ease. It was the start of a beautiful career with many more records being made along the way. 

2- Shreyas Iyer  vs New Zealand  (2021 Kanpur)

Virat Kohli was not available for the first Test of the short series against the then-defending WTC Champions. Shreyas Iyer was given the Test cap and he repaid the faith of the selectors with an amazing 105 on debut. the right-handed batter followed it up with 65 in the next innings to take his match total to 170 runs.

The Rajkot Test saw the debut of two young Indian players with a bright future. Dhruv Jurel and Sarfaraz Khan. The 26-year-old scored India’s joint fastest fifty on Test debut before he was run out for 62. In the second innings, with the team pushing for a declaration, Sarfaraz came good once again. The youngster scored 68 not out from just 72 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes.
