Rohit Sharma slams a century on the 1st day of the ongoing 3rd Test match against England. When India needed him the most, the captain delivered. Taking out the team from a crisis, Sharma not only played a flamboyant innings but also kept the scoreboard going and scored a brilliant 131 runs off 196 balls. The energetic innings portrayed his confidence in his batting and also showed his understanding of the pitch. This was Sharma's 11th Test century and third against England. 

Rohit hit the century by taking a couple off leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed in the first over after the Tea break. Moreover, the century came in just 157 balls. He was well assisted by Ravindra Jadeja (85) on the non-striker end. Jadeja, while playing on his home ground, scored a fantastic half-century. As the batters crossed the 100-run partnership on the first day, their consistent effort to keep the scoreboard running was quite evident by the way they played in two sessions. 

On winning the toss, Rohit Sharma chose to bat first. The decision seemed fine until India lost two quick wickets at the start of the innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal (10), Shubman Gill (0) and Rajat Patidar (5)'s wickets pushed India to the backfoot. However, Sharma and Jadeja's partnership helped India score 238 runs.

In the 3rd Test match between India and England, Sarfaraz Khan and Druv Jurel received their maiden Test cap. After receiving the Test cap, Sarfaraz's father, Naushad Khan and wife became emotional. While talking to commentator Aakash Chopra in the commentary box, his father said that it was a dream-come-true moment for the entire family as Sarfaraz finally got a chance to represent the country after a long wait.

His father said, "Every coach and father has the belief that his son will one day play for the country. But the world believes only when he receives the cap. I never thought that it would always remain a dream. I knew that it would take time, have seen many. Some of them would get it early. Some would have to wait for long."
