During the game, a pitch invader came while the hosts came into bat.
The fan, who was wearing Virat Kohli's Test jersey, managed to break through the security cordon at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium and run towards Rohit to touch his feet ahead of the first ball of India's 1st innings. This is not the first time that a fan has come inside the ground it has been seen often nowadays during any format of the game.
After the invasion former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has slammed the security people for not handling these situations properly. He criticised the security personnel, who were focused on watching the match instead of keeping a tab on stadium security.

India spinners web the English batters
Sunil Gavaskar said in the commentary on JioCinema during the IND vs ENG 1st Test, "The problem is that they (security personnel) watch the match instead of watching the crowd. Cricketers are hugely popular and this keeps happening." This is the first after a four-year break at this venue, the attendance in the stands was pretty encouraging, with about 22,000, mostly school students who were given free entry to watch the proceedings.
India's spin twins Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin each took three wickets, while Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah picked two wickets each. Captain Ben Stokes used the famed Bazball strategy to score 70 off 88 balls, including three sixes and six fours, while Jonny Bairstow and opener Ben Duckett contributed 37 and 35 runs, respectively.
The Men in Blue have come out to bat as well and are scoring at a run rate of almost 7 per over, with Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal smashing the English bowlers and the latter has scored fifty as well off just 47 balls.
