India's recent inclusion, Sourabh Kumar, is from Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh. He is a left-arm spinner who plays for Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket. Recently, Kumar came to light again after taking a fifer in the match against the England Lions. That was his 22nd five-wicket haul of his career. As India A went on to win the match, his contributions were well appreciated by the Indian selectors.
Apart from this, he also has five-wicket hauls against New Zealand A and Bangladesh A. Besides bowling, Kumar becomes well-versed with the bat whenever the team is in need. He has two first-class hundreds and an average of nearly 27. One of the interesting facts about Kumar is that he left the Indian Air Force (IAF) to join cricket. He followed his passion for playing Cricket and left one of the most prestigious jobs.
Kumar has played 68 first-class games for Uttar Pradesh and has scored 2061 runs so far. He made his debut in 2014. Moreover, with the ball, he has taken 290 wickets. This wasn't the first time he got a call from the Indian selectors. In 2022, he was included in the team against Bangladesh. However, he didn't get to make his debut. This time too the chances are bleak in the presence of Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin.
Replacement for KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja declared
KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja have been ruled out of the upcoming 2nd Test match against England starting on February 2, in Visakhapatnam. While Jadeja suffered a hamstring injury, Rahul had pain in his right quadriceps. Thus, they were excluded from the team. Moreover, the selectors declared the team for the 2nd Test match with three new inclusions.
After a long period of waiting, Sarfaraz Khan finally got a call from the selectors for the upcoming match. Along with him, Sourabh Kumar and Rajat Patidar were also included in the team. As India will be missing their major players, Virat Kohli, Rahul, and Jadeja, it will be interesting to see the team changes and the combinations made by the Indian team ahead of the Test match.
