The Punjab Kings (PBKS) has always been the team that has looked good on paper but they failed to live up to the expectations. They failed to qualify for the knockouts after 2014 and before that, they qualified only once in the knockouts in 2008. The team had good players in the squad but failed to perform under pressure in the toughest franchise league.
In the previous edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) just won 6 games in 14 matches and failed again to qualify for the knockouts yet again though they had a brilliant squad with the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Arshdeep Singh and Shikhar Dhawan. The team lacked good backup options in the batting and bowling departments. The team ahead of the IPL 2024 auction has released some big names though none of them were involved in the trade. Dhawan will have to take responsibility and lead the side well in the 2024 IPL to qualify for the knockouts.
They have not traded a single player. Sam Curran was the most expensive but was in the auction for 18.5 crore INR. His performance didn't match his hefty price tag but he was retained in a surprising move. The IPL auction is set to take place in Dubai on December 19. This is the first instance that the auction will be taking place outside India. Preity Zinta's side would love to win their maiden title and use the amount INR 29.1 crore wisely.
